Every teacher has a few tried-and-true instructional strategies they rely on. But sometimes, it’s nice to add something new to the mix. Maybe you’re looking for a better way to check for understanding, provide meaningful feedback, or get students thinking more deeply. A fresh idea or small change can make a difference.
If you’re ready to add a few new strategies to your teaching toolkit, join us for TCEA’s Pedagogy Showcase: Igniting Excellence on Saturday, Nov. 7, 2026. This online professional learning event offers four focused sessions packed with practical strategies, digital tools, and resources you can put to use right away.
And the best part? You can do it all in just two and a half hours from the comfort of your own home. Saturday morning coffee is optional, but highly recommended!

Four Sessions, Plenty of Practical Ideas
The Pedagogy Showcase features four 30-minute sessions led by members of the TCEA Professional Development team. Each session focuses on an important aspect of effective instruction, with ideas you can adapt to your own classroom.
Here’s a look at what you can expect.
1. Exit Tickets That Spark Next Steps
Presenter: Peggy Reimers
Exit tickets are a great way to check for understanding, but what happens after students turn them in? The real value comes from using those responses to guide what happens next.
This session focuses on making exit tickets more meaningful so you can gather useful information about student learning and make informed instructional decisions.
2. Strategies to Assess Prior Knowledge
Presenter: Diana Benner
Before introducing new content, it’s important to find out what students already know. After all, it’s hard to build on prior knowledge if you don’t know what’s there.
In this session, you’ll explore strategies for assessing and activating prior knowledge. These approaches can help you identify misconceptions, make connections to previous learning, and plan instruction that meets students where they are.
3. Mastering the Feedback Loop: Strategies, Tools, and AI
Presenter: Dr. Bruce Ellis
Providing feedback is an important part of teaching, but finding the time to make it meaningful can be challenging.
This session explores strategies, digital tools, and artificial intelligence (AI) to help strengthen the feedback process. Discover approaches that can help you provide feedback that supports student understanding and growth.
4. PBL for Critical Thinking: Designing Projects That Outsmart AI Shortcuts
Presenter: Miguel Guhlin
With AI tools becoming more common, how can teachers design learning experiences that encourage students to think for themselves?
This session focuses on project-based learning (PBL) and ways to design projects that promote critical thinking, problem-solving, and meaningful student engagement.
Who Should Attend?
The Pedagogy Showcase is designed for anyone looking to strengthen teaching and learning. Whether you’re a classroom teacher, instructional coach, curriculum leader, or instructional specialist, you’ll find strategies and resources to support your work.
The event is especially relevant for educators working toward a Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA) designation or entering teaching through an Alternative Certification Program (ACP).
The sessions address instructional practices such as feedback, formative assessment, and student engagement. These are important areas for supporting effective instruction and student growth.
