The Online Conference Built for Today’s School Librarians

by Peggy Reimers

No, that’s not a library barcode or a Dewey Decimal mystery.

Those are the dates for the 2026 TCEA Librarian Conference, happening June 23–25, 2026, and honestly, they may be the coolest conference dates ever.

But memorable dates are just the beginning.

If you’re a school librarian, you already know your role stretches far beyond checking out books. One minute you’re helping students evaluate online sources. The next, you’re troubleshooting technology, supporting teachers, teaching digital citizenship, navigating AI tools, managing collections, promoting literacy, and somehow still finding time to decorate a bulletin board.

That’s exactly why the TCEA Librarian Conference exists.

This conference is built specifically for librarians by librarians who understand the realities of library life right now.

The 2026 TCEA Librarian Conference is three focused half-days packed with practical ideas and real-world strategies you can actually use.

Not theory.

Not fluff.

Implementation.

Here’s what you can expect:

  • Sessions created specifically for school librarians
  • Practical AI tools and technology integration ideas
  • Strategies to increase engagement and circulation
  • Guidance for navigating today’s library challenges, including SB 13 conversations
  • Makerspace, literacy, digital citizenship, and instructional partnership ideas
  • Opportunities to connect with librarians from across Texas and beyond
  • Thirty-day access to session recordings through July 31, 2026

Whether you’re a brand-new librarian or a seasoned library leader, there’s something here for you.

One of the best parts of this conference is the community. Librarians understand librarians. The sessions are relevant, the conversations are meaningful, and attendees walk away feeling inspired, supported, and recharged.

My favorite comments from last year:

“This is the best kind of conference – it is all for librarians and by librarians plus you can sit in your gym shorts and tshirt to get all of your information.  You can download the resources and take time to peruse them at your convenience later.”

“Librarians are amazing! We know and learn so much from each other.”

“I was apprehensive about using AI in the library. I now have a better understanding of how it works and feel more confident in my ability to use it.”

“The plans I’ve been sketching out for future activities in my library are right on track with what other librarians are currently implementing in their libraries! “

The 2026 TCEA Librarian Conference takes place:

  • June 23, 2026
  • June 24, 2026
  • June 25, 2026

See? Still the coolest dates ever.

I’m especially excited about this year’s opening sessions because I designed a fun librarian-themed activity for each day of the conference. I’m keeping the details a surprise for now, but get ready for a little friendly competition, interactive fun, and a playful way to kick off each morning together. Last thing I want to mention is the Networking Nook is moving to 8:00 a.m. – 8:30 a.m. CST and the opening kicks off at 8:30 a.m.

I’ll see you there. AND do remember, the coolest conference dates in 2026 belong to librarians. =0)
