Minecraft Education Goes FREE

The cost of getting Minecraft in your school has gone down temporarily! Take advantage of it!

Why would you want to download this “gaming system” for your students? Well, there are lots of great curricular tie-ins. You can see what the research has to say about gaming in the classroom in this blog post.

Minecraft: Education Edition is a way to bring the classroom and curriculum to students. It is the same game many students enjoy and play, but with some additional capabilities to enable student collaboration in the classroom, and support educators to deliver lessons and learning activities. This new title – available as a free trial this summer – will build on the learnings from MinecraftEdu while offering an expanded set of features. And in support of MinecraftEdu customers, they can continue to use MinecraftEdu and we will offer the first year of Minecraft: Education Edition for free.(Source: Microsoft)

If you are interested in getting this innovative and engaging program in your school district, don’t hesitate. The deal will not last long.

…Microsoft announced that schools and teachers can download a special education version of the game for free. The company also added several new features to the game that make it easier for teachers to give feedback, as well as classroom collaboration tools and a simpler setup process. A full version of Minecraft: Education Edition will go on sale in September and will cost school districts an average of $1 to $5 per player each year. About 1,700 students participated in the beta program. (Source: CNN.com)
