For the seventh year, I am thrilled to announce that the big man himself, Santa Claus, will be stopping by the TCEA office in Austin just to chat with students and parents. To keep everyone safe and to provide access to children from around the world, Santa will do the chat virtually on Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. Central.
Holiday Happenings
Santa will bring all of us an update from the North Pole: what’s happening with his elves, how the reindeer are doing, and what kind of Christmas goodies Mrs. Claus is busy baking. He’ll also give us a weather update for his big trip on December 24, something that he and everyone at the Pole pay particular attention to!
A Christmas Book
Santa Claus will also read a favorite holiday book to us. This year, he’s chosen Bear Stays Up for Christmas by Karma Wilson and illustrated by Jane Chapman. “Bear’s friends are determined to keep Bear awake for Christmas! So they wake Bear up and have him help them find a Christmas tree, bake cakes, hang up stockings, and sing Christmas songs. Bear stays up—by discovering that giving is one of the best Christmas presents of all!”
Joining Santa
Santa’s virtual chat is open to anyone, anywhere, whether they are a member of TCEA or not, and it completely free. Geared towards kids of all ages, the holiday event requires no registration and will be broadcast through YouTube (make sure your district does not have it blocked at the time of the chat). Children can submit their questions for Santa ahead of time using this form! And, if they are really good, Santa may even mention them by name!
A link to the live stream will be posted here on the day of the event. If you are unavailable to attend the live event, a recording of the chat will be available shortly after it ends. We hope you’ll join us for this extraordinary event!
