Finding the right image for the job can be tough for any project. That’s where AI image generation comes in handy. When you are on an education budget, that means that you are limited to what’s available for free. Today, there are a variety of amazing AI-powered image sites that will take your breath away. Let’s take a look at some of them.

But before jumping into those, let’s explore instructional activities that merit amazing images.

Images in the Classroom

Planning on engaging students with digital storytelling? Or using social media to create visual stories? Finding images outside of the stock image websites can be difficult. New AI-powered websites allow you to rely on AI-generated images available at no cost. These images can spark student creativity without risking copyright infractions.

Let’s explore each in turn.

#1 – Lummi

One of my favorite choices, Lummi offers free stock photos and royalty-free images. These AI creations come with alt text descriptions, and you can search for them by color, orientation, and more. The best part is that you are not required to provide attribution (although it is appreciated).

Images are also available at high resolutions, making them workable for print and online. This collection includes photos and illustrations of people, objects, and food.

As beautiful as Lummi’s images are, you may want to generate one for a specific purpose. That’s where Dezgo may be useful.

#2 – Dezgo

Featuring text to image, this AI image generator offers a free plan. You are able to generate multiple, royalty-free images at once. You can also upload reference images, and specify what not to generate with a negative prompt. The basic plan is free, but you can subscribe to access “Power Mode.”

Here’s an image I asked it to generate:

You can also take existing images, like the majestic hawk from Lummi, and turn them into something else:

#3 – Vecteezy AI Generated Photos and Images

Vecteezy offers a wide variety of images. Although there are licensed images, some are available under their free license. This means they are free to use with attribution.

AI Image Generation

AI image generation can be a time-saver. Instead of spending hours searching for images, trying to get around copyright restrictions, use these sources as alternatives. Tools like Lummi, Dezgo, and Vecteezy offer a wealth of free, high-quality, and customizable images. Whether it’s visual storytelling for elementary students, historical reenactments for middle school students, or creative art prompts for high school students, these AI-powered platforms provide a safe and legal way to access breathtaking images.
